Ibn Jawzi (rahimahulllah) a dit :
فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ خَصَّ أُمَّتَنَا بِحِفْظِ الْقُرْآنِ
وَالْعِلْمِ، وَقَدْ كَانَ مَنْ قَبْلَنَا يَقْرَءُونَ كُتُبَهُمْ مِنَ
الصُّحُفِ، وَلا يَقْدِرُونَ عَلَى الْحِفْظِ، فَلَمَّا جَاءَ عُزَيْرٌ
فَقَرَأَ التَّوْرَاةَ مِنْ حِفْظِهِ، فَقَالُوا: هَذَا ابْنُ اللَّهِ،
فَكَيْفَ نَقُومُ بِشُكْرِ مَنْ خَوَّلَنَا أَنَّ ابْنَ سَبْعِ سِنِينَ
مِنَّا يَقْرَأُ الْقُرْآنَ عَنْ ظَهْرِ قَلْبٍ
« Louange à Allâh, Qui nous a favorisé par Sa grâce, par-dessus toutes les autres nations et nous a béni avec la mémorisation du Qur’an…car Allah a fait de notre Ummah unique par le fait qu’elle peut mémoriser le Qur’an et la science (alors que) ceux qui étaient avant nous avaient l’habitude de se rappeler de leurs textes sacrés à partir de parchemins (c.-à-d. sans mémoire), et n’étaient pas capables de les mémoriser…Alors, comment pouvons-nous remercier Celui qui nous a béni d’un tel degré qu’un [jeûne âgé] de sept ans parmi nous peut facilement réciter le Qur’an à partir de la mémoire?(alors que les anciens de leurs religion ne peuvent même pas réciter tous leurs livres religieux une fois de mémoire?) »

"All praise is due to Allaah, who has favoured us. by His grace, above all other nations and blessed us with the memorisation of the Qur`an. ..For Allah has made our ummah unique by the fact that it can memorise the Qur`an, and knowledge (whereas) those who were before us used to recall their Scriptures from parchments (i.e.. without memory), and were not capable of memorising it... So how can we thank the One who has blessed us to such degree that a seven-year old from amongst us can easily recite the entire Qur`an from memory? (while the old ones of their religion cannot even recite their entire religious books once by memory?)'
