L'Imâm al-Qurtubî rapporte dans son Tafsîr:
« Le mot Ramadân vient du mot "Ramad", qui signifie littéralement
"brûler". Il a été appelé Ramadân car il brûle les péchés des gens avec
les bonnes oeuvres. »
